Momentum, Brick Lane Debates & Red Pepper presents: Corbynomics 2.1.
Global capitalism has entered its third great depression; the so called ‘recovery’ is an illusion, dependent on asset inflation, spiralling inequality, burgeoning levels of private debt and the destruction of the welfare state.
A new economics is needed. Join us for Corbynomics 2.0, a free 5 week course, which will cut through the jargon, demystify economics, analyse what’s gone wrong and explore what policies Corbyn could introduce.
Corbynomics 2.0 will start at 7 pm on Monday 14 March 2016 at the Bussey Building/CLF Art Cafe, 133 Rye Lane, London, SE15 4ST and will run every Monday over 5 consecutive weeks. Although you can drop in and out, each session will build on the previous week, so continuous attendance is encouraged. Each session will include a theoretical introduction, followed by discussion groups and a participatory plenary.
The first session will be on ‘The Rise and Rise of the Corporations’. We live in a world where a handful of giant firms control everything from oil to media to computers to private healthcare. But is this really the dream of the free market? How did we end up here? Is the current system sustainable? How can we begin to fight corporate dominance? Join the Facebook group for more information, free tickets and to download the reading lists and podcasts. No previous experience or knowledge of the topic is necessary – everybody is welcome. Together, we will build a movement for a more democratic, equal and decent society.
